misc thoughts, etc...sunday, august 8

twin of gladys wemyss sat with me on the train yesterday...hair in bun, only thing missing was 6 ink pens in it.

twin of aunt edna in erik´s market yesterday

trust...everyone is so trusting here...room i stayed in at cinque terra...never had my name, information. in rotenburg...pension run by father son, erik and klaus...left george with klaus...hadnt seen the room, paid for the room, didnt pay till departure...40 euro...best sleeping bed thus far...down comforter...included great breakfast...yogurt was activia...no issues there so chose not to have it...they run a grocery store that reminds me of miles hardware...erick is about the height of w. a. they have everything...groceries, meats, liquor, trains, toy cars....back to trust...havent paid for this room either in baden baden, andrea said to pay at check out...no credit card given as security

have seen lots of small castles, towers on hills from train

also saw wind farm yesterday...had no idea the windmills are as large as they are

saw a field of what appeared to be beets...cant imagine that many beets...acres and acres of beets

wil and hamp short....lots of tree stands...but no photos...most of rough hewn wood

yesterday, started day with zip off pants and linen shirt...cool, so wore scarf...by 930, had gotten warm...what to do with scarf...so tied it around waist like roman soldier...later, pant legs zipped off...watch out armani, perhaps i will become a fashion designer

lunch yesterday was picnic from shop of klaus...salami and cheese...also bought a great piece of apple tart from the bakery next door...all total less than 7 euro

there must be community gardens here...i see lots of connected spaces, estimated 40 x 75 ft, beautifully tended...veggies and flowers...see these from the train...with little sheds-cabins...remind me somewhat of the potting sheds of margaret britt and anne harris

tilly hat repels rain...is not water proof...8 hours of rain proves this

wheat desperately needs harvesting...if wilton, lee and i each had a combine over here we could rack it up

golden rod beginning to bloom...i think sister wendy´s first job for gladys and macon was helping me get a truck load of golden rod for gladys to dry for flower arrangments

have decided to skip the rhine...and save berlin for later in the trip

passed tupperware factory yesterday...used to ride to raleigh with bonnie andrews for her tupperware meetings when i was a kid
